Rules (read me!)
Monday, 16 June 2008 20:21

First, you must be registered to play. Registration is quick and easy. When your registration has been approved, you are free to jump in. As soon as you register, a confirmation email will be sent. Please click the link there; you'll be ready to roll once you do!

Once you are registered, you will have access to the questions, which are posted according to this schedule:

  • Big Game: For the less intense, the Monday-only game will feature a few questions every Monday.
  • Little Game: For the fully involved, new questions will be posted every Monday and Wednesday to start. If the game is popular and doesn't kill me, we'll go to a thrice-weekly game.

Players may play in one or both games. If a certain stratification in abilities (or fanaticism) becomes evident, we'll go to either a division format (same questions, two divisions) or a team format. For now, we'll just compete straight up.

You must be logged in to see the questions! Older questions will be visible from the front page for non-members, but the active questions will only be visible to registered members who are logged in.

Answers are due by 9:00 p.m. Hawaii time (that's Greenwich Mean Time minus ten hours, all year long) on the date specified when the questions are posted. You may submit updates to your answers as many times as you like before the deadline. You might want to keep an eye on the schedule, which will clearly tell you when the deadlines are.

Your answers must be sent via email to scrivener [-at-] scrivtriv [-dot-] com from the email address you registered from unless I know you in real life, in which case you still have to email the answers to me, but they can be from any email address I'm familiar with.

If you disagree with a judge's ruling, you may file an appeal via email, but the ruling on the appeal is final.

Trash talking in the forum is encouraged, but keep it nice, please.

At least for now, games will run for two weeks and take one week off. You'll be kept informed if you check in at ScrivTriv.com regularly!

There are no prizes for now, but I definitely hope to work some prizes into the game eventually. For now, you'll be temporarily immortalized on the front page.
